Summary

The 5th AICEE was held in conjunction with the 25th ASEAN Energy Business Forum and the 43rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) in October 2025.

The theme of the 5th AICEE, "Sustainable Energy for ASEAN’s Prosperity: Innovation, Inclusivity and Regional Cooperation”, sets the stage for a wide-ranging exploration of the opportunities and challenges facing ASEAN’s energy sector. This year, the conference received 512 abstract submissions, from which 132 oral presentations and 7 poster presentations were selected, all of which were conducted fully in person.

The conference features recent research and critical discussions across six (6) interrelated sub-topics. Low Carbon and Emerging Technologies focus on transforming fossil fuel systems and advanced low-carbon solutions. Energy Efficiency Technologies and Measures examines how digitalization, IoT, and blockchain are being leveraged to optimize energy systems. Regional Energy Cooperation and Interconnection emphasize the need for interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaborations for secure, accessible, and interconnected ASEAN energy systems. The theme of a Just and Inclusive Energy Transition emphasizes the importance of equitable access, gender and social inclusion, and participatory governance. Energy, Environment, and Climate Policy encompasses strategies for reducing emissions, protecting the environment, and enhancing climate resilience. Ultimately, Energy Investment explores the significance of green investment and carbon pricing in achieving a low-carbon future.

This conference proceedings book provides a detailed overview of the 5th AICEE, featuring selected full papers and extended abstracts from the 132 oral and 7 poster presentations, organised according to the six conference sub-topics. It serves as a reference for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers seeking to advance sustainable, inclusive, and low-carbon energy pathways in ASEAN
