Manila, 7 October 2026 – The Gala Dinner and Awarding Ceremony of the ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA) 2026 was held in Manila, the Philippines, in conjunction with the 44thASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and the 26thASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF-26), celebrating outstanding achievements and contributions to the region's energy development and transition.

As ASEAN’s highest regional recognition for excellence in the energy sector, the ASEAN Energy Awards honour projects, organisations, and individuals that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and measurable impact, while promoting the wider adoption of successful practices and continued investment in ASEAN’s energy transition.

Held under the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN Chairship, themed “Navigating Our Future, Together,” the awarding ceremony reflected the Chairship’s three strategic priorities: Peace and Security Anchors, Prosperity Corridors, and People Empowerment. These priorities align with the ASEAN Energy Awards’ objectives of recognising innovation, encouraging investment in sustainable energy solutions, and promoting regional cooperation to build a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive energy future.

The ASEAN Energy Awards 2026 recognise achievements across five major award categories, with a total of approximately 96awardees from across ASEAN:

  • ASEAN Renewable Energy Project Awards
  • ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices Awards
  • ASEAN Excellence in Energy Management by Individual
  • ASEAN Women in Energy Excellence Award
  • ASEAN Excellence in Connectivity and Interconnection Project & Initiative

Beyond recognising individual achievements, the ASEAN Energy Awards provide a regional platform to showcase innovative technologies, successful approaches, and best practices that can be replicated across ASEAN. The awards also seek to encourage stronger public-private collaboration and continued investment and innovation in support of ASEAN’s energy security, resilience, and low-carbon transition.

What’s new in the ASEAN Energy Awards 2026: Empowering Women and Strengthening Regional Connectivity

The ASEAN Energy Awards 2026 introduces two (2) new categories this year: the ASEAN Women in Energy Excellence Award and the ASEAN Excellence in Connectivity and Interconnection Project & Initiative.

The ASEAN Women in Energy Excellence Award recognises outstanding women who have made significant contributions to ASEAN energy cooperation through leadership, technical expertise, policymaking, regional coordination, and knowledge-sharing. Aligned with the objectives of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC), the award aims to elevate women's visibility and leadership while supporting a more inclusive and gender-responsive energy transition across the region.

The ASEAN Excellence in Connectivity and Interconnection Project & Initiative recognises outstanding projects, initiatives, and collaborative efforts that advance regional energy connectivity and integration, particularly through the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) and other cross-border energy cooperation initiatives.

The ASEAN Energy Awards 2026 continue ASEAN’s efforts to recognise and promote practical achievements that can contribute to a more secure, resilient, sustainable, and interconnected regional energy future.
