On 2 April 2026, a Technical Consultative Meeting between the ASEAN Centre for Energy
(ACE) and Sabah Electricity was conducted
at Sabah Electricity Headquarters. The meeting was led
by Ir. Ts. Christina Chong, General Manager of Transmission Department of Sabah
Electricity and Prihastya Wiratama, Project Manager of
ASEAN Power Interconnection Projects under Power Generation and Interconnection
Department of ACE. Arif Majid Nusa Pratama, as representative of the Heads
of ASEAN Power Utilities/Authorities (HAPUA), was also in attendance. The discussion with the Transmission Department of Sabah Electricity
focused on the implementation of the APG Project Preparation Facility,
supported by the World Bank, particularly in advancing activities under Output
5.1.
The meeting opened with a warm welcome from Sabah
Electricity, followed by appreciation from ACE for the opportunity to engage.
Building on earlier discussions with the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS),
both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining close coordination
and continuing dialogue to align regional initiatives with Sabah’s priorities.
The conversation covered progress and next steps in supporting APG-related project preparation, as well as ACE’s role in advancing regional energy cooperation. ACE also shared updates on its collaboration with development partners and ongoing efforts involving Sabah, Malaysia to strengthen cross-border interconnection planning across ASEAN. Both parties exchanged views on how the programme can be implemented effectively, with an emphasis on practical approaches and continued alignment.
