Malaysia LNG Group of Companies (MLNG), a subsidiary of state-owned energy giant Petronas, is actively eyeing the Philippines as a strategic growth market for liquefied natural gas (LNG), as it strengthens its presence across Southeast Asia.

Starting in July, Peninsular Malaysia will implement an Automatic Fuel Adjustment (AFA) mechanism for electricity pricing, replacing the current Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) system.
Under the AFA, electricity tariffs will be adjusted monthly based on prevailing fuel prices and exchange rates, compared to the current biannual schedule. According to the Energy Commission (EC), base electricity rates may be reduced by up to 19% under the new system.

The Department of Energy (DOE), in partnership with the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP), has released an all-encompassing comprehensive guidebook to simplify the permitting process for offshore wind (OSW) projects in the Philippines.
Titled “Compendium: Guidebook to Permitting and Consenting for Offshore Wind Energy in the Philippines,” the publication outlines over 80 permitting requirements across more than 25 government agencies. It provides a step-by-step roadmap from early site assessments and feasibility studies to construction, operation, and even decommissioning.

According to a document, the Brunei Energy Services and Trading (BEST) Sdn Bhd, sent the offer to Bangladesh’s state-owned Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL).
Each cargo size under the proposal would be approximately between 3,100,000 and 3,200,000 MMBtu (Million British Thermal Unit, a unit used to measure LNG), with the price quoted at JKM+0.87 USD per MMBtu.
