LAWMAKERS and power industry stakeholders on Tuesday discussed various ways the country can attain energy independence amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Rozzano Briguez, President and CEO of The Philippine National Oil Company-Exploration Corporation (PNOC-EC), said the country needs to fast-track the development of new energy supply. “We envision exploring new oil and gas sources to augment our Malampaya reserves,” Briguez commented at Tuesday’s virtual Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel, on the theme “Energy Independence Crucial to National Security.”
