ASEAN Strengthens Cleantech Ecosystem through Regional Capacity-Building Workshop
25-26 August 2025 – The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), supported by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), successfully organised the Empowering ASEAN’s Clean Energy Future: Policy Insights and Collaborative Pathways for Fostering Cleantech Innovation and Entrepreneurship in ASEAN workshop on 25–26 August 2025. This regional workshop is organised as part of the Enhancement of Clean Energy Technology Ecosystem and Its Connectivity in ASEAN project. The event brought together members of the Project Steering Committee, representatives from ASEAN Member States (AMS), and key stakeholders from the private sector who are actively supporting the advancement of the Cleantech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem (CIEE).

15 August 2025 —On 5 August 2025, the ASEAN Sparks programme officially entered its second phase, Catalyse, following the onboarding of participating startups on 1 August 2025. ASEAN Sparks, an initiative aimed at accelerating the growth of clean energy and climate technology startups, is supported by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) and implemented by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). In collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and strategic partners Innovation Factory (IF) and BLOCK71 Indonesia, through this initiative, ACE contributes to ASEAN’s energy transition and climate action goals.

16 June 2025 —With the official onboarding of mentors, trainers, and startups now complete, the ASEAN Sparks programme is fully primed to launch its first major phase: the Ignite startup bootcamp. Developed by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE/the Centre) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and supported by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), ASEAN Sparks is preparing to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship in the clean energy sector across Southeast Asia.

16 January 2025 — The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), supported by the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), officially set the kick-off meeting for the Enhancement of Clean Energy Technology Ecosystem and Its Connectivity in ASEAN on 16 January 2025. This meeting aims to officially establish Project Steering Committee (PSC), by introducing the project activities and timeline, discussing the OSC roles and electing its Chairpersons.
