Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 24,300 rooftop solar power projects with a total capacity of 465.8 MWp have been installed and put into operation by early March, according to the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN). The group said its National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDC) mobilized 1.8 kWh of electricity from renewable energy projects in the first two months of 2020, accounting for nearly 5 percent of the total power production.

LISTED AboitizPower Corp. and the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU)-Davao signed a memorandum of agreement to explore the development of a rooftop solar project within the university. Under the binding accord signed by AboitizPower unit AboitizPower Distributed Renewables Inc. (APX) and LPU-Davao, APX will install, operate and maintain rooftop solar panels with a capacity of 300 kilowatt-peak.

THE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved the power supply agreement (PSA) jointly applied for by the country’s largest power distribution utility Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) and Solar Philippines Tanauan Corp. (SPTC). In its decision promulgated on Feb. 28, the commission said it had approved the applicable rate applied for by the two entities at P5.39 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) and subject to a 2% annual escalation as provided in the agreement.

Lopez-led First Gen Corp.’s wholly-owned unit FGEN LNG Corp. aims to start the construction of a Liquefied Natural Gas terminal in its Batangas City complex in May. In a disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, First Gen said FGEN LNG has already filed its application for a Permit to Construct, Expand, Rehabilitate and Modify (PCERM) with the Department of Energy.

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has extended final approval to the ₱5.39 per kilowatt hour (kwh) electricity rate that project developer-firm Solar Philippines has tendered in its 20-year power supply agreement (PSA) with Manila Electric Company. The regulatory body’s final nod on the pass-on rate of the solar facility is a follow-through to the provisional approval it rendered last year on the same application. The PSA between Meralco and Solar Philippines was signed in 2016.

MANILA, Philippines — The inclusion of nuclear power in the Philippines’ energy mix will only bring more problems and debt to Filipinos, an environmental organization said as it urged the government to reject the proposal of the Energy department. Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi sought President Rodrigo Duterte’s nod for a proposed executive order to add nuclear power to the country’s energy sources, Malacañang said Tuesday.
