Singapore is looking for a company to build a new power plant in its latest push to enhance energy security.

The Energy Market Authority is inviting proposals to build, own and operate a gas-fired power plant for operations by 2028, it said in a statement. Participants are expected to also develop hydrogen and low-carbon solutions in order to develop a greener power system.

With this partnership, GEAPP will facilitate the development of 100 new solar projects across Myanmar, supplying a total of 57 MW of clean electricity. This initiative, which will unlock $60 million worth of solar investment, will also pave the way for the sustenance of 72,000 jobs in the agricultural value chain, improving the livelihoods of more than 600,000 people who directly or or indirectly depend on reliable access to electricity.

The 2023 Indonesia Solar Summit, held in Jakarta, saw Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif advocate for the rapid expansion of renewable energy, with solar and wind sources taking center stage.
