Energy demand has seen a decrease in the first six months of 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic, which had forced factories, tourism-related facilities including hotels to shut down, leading to the drop in power consumption. “The demand of this year [first half] decreased a bit due to the impact of COVID-19. Some factories and hotels have shut down their operations or they reduced their power consumption,” said Victor Jona, Director General of Energy at the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
