The Ministry of Mines and Energy said there is no shortage of electricity during this year’s dry season as compared to last year. Even so, the ministry said it would continue to boost electricity access in all households across the country by at least 78 percent this year. Speaking in a press conference held at the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, Victor Jona, director-general of the General Department of Mines and Energy, said: “We don’t have a shortage in electricity this year. Our hydro-power dams also have about 70 percent water supply. Furthermore, according to the weather forecast of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, we may have earlier rainfalls than last year.”
