Energy Security
About
As part of ASEAN’s energy trilemma, energy security remains a core priority and key to realising the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) vision of a well-connected region that is integrated, competitive, and resilient. With energy demand expected to more than double by 2025, driven by population growth and industrial expansion, ensuring a reliable, affordable, and diversified energy supply is a necessity.
ASEAN’s energy security approach emphasises fuel diversification, regional interconnectivity, infrastructure development, and regional cooperation through initiatives such as the ASEAN Power Grid (APG). Strengthening energy security in this evolving landscape is vital to support long-term development while managing emerging risks and uncertainties.
