ASEAN Power Grid (APG) Secretariat

Roles & Scopes

The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) serves as APG Secretariat to assist in the facilitation of activities, documentation, and other related activities, including organising the necessary review and coordination to ensure the successful completion of the Enhanced APG Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and corresponding action plans.

About

The APG MoU was first signed in 2007 and implemented in 2009. After its 15 years of validity, the MoU is now up for an extension with a brand-new title called the Enhanced APG MoU. The Enhanced APG MoU embodies the ASEAN Member States’ renewed commitment on strengthening regional electricity connectivity through multilateral power trade, integration of renewable energy, and fostering investment in the energy sector. Upon signing, the ASEAN Power Grid Consultative Committee (APGCC) will lead the operationalisation of the Enhanced APG MoU through the establishment of task force(s) focusing on technical, regulatory, and policy aspects, and their respective workplans.

ACE will also support the ASEAN Member States on technical expertise, reference studies, and support the APG-related bodies on executing the MoU, under the guidance of the ASEAN Member States.
