Key Points

  • This Study Report of ASEAN Cooperative Project on Financing Mechanism Design for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) Project Implementation was produced with funding support from the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) under the ASEAN Secretariat and the said project was implemented by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation-Sub Sector Network (EE&C-SSN).
  • The Study showcases best practice examples of EE&C finance mechanisms from around the world and in particular from Asia. Furthermore, it provides specific framework conditions, EE finance mechanism status and recommendations to further implement activities and some readily developed concept notes in each ASEAN Member State. The study report hopes to raise further awareness about EE finance mechanisms and also indicates possible areas for engagement for further development. The report would be of interest to policymakers, donor agencies or anybody who would like to engage in energy efficiency finance mechanisms in the ASEAN region.

The publication was developed by the ASEAN-German Energy Programme (AGEP), a jointly implemented programme by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and Deutsche Gesellschaft fur International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
