The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) co-hosted the ASEAN Energy Reception 2025

The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) co-hosted the ASEAN Energy Reception 2025 on 18 February in Jakarta, Indonesia. Supported by Norway through the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT), the event gathered 50 high-level representatives, including ASEAN Member States, the ASEAN Secretary-General, and partner ambassadors.

Navigating Supply-Side Policies towards Decarbonisation Pathways of Energy Sector in ASEAN

This blog explores ASEAN’s pathways toward decarbonising its energy sector amidst rising energy demands and a growing dependency on fossil fuels. It highlights the need for a phased approach, focusing on energy security, accessibility, affordability, and sustainability, starting with the initial phase (2025–2035) which prioritises renewable energy, electricity grid stability, and critical mineral supply chains, and the mid-term phase (2035–2050) which emphasises affordability and infrastructure readiness for clean technologies.
