On Improving Energy Security in Islands and Remote Grids in ASEAN through Utilisation of Emerging Clean Energy Innovation

Taking the opportunity of Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, these two workshops co-hosted by Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia (MEMR), ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), and National Energy Council (DEN) will response to Priorities Economic Deliverables (PEDs) of Indonesia ASEAN Chairmanship.

The first workshop calling for ‘Preparation of developments of the intergovernmental agreement to advance multilateral electricity trading in the ASEAN Power Grid (APG)’. The discussions on intergovernmental agreements are part of APAEC’s action plan and will be essential to further accelerate the realization of the APG.

While on the second workshop aims to improve energy security in islands and remote grids in ASEAN through utilisation of emerging clean energy innovations and should contribute to ASEAN pursuits in achieving 23% renewable energy share in TPES and 32% energy intensity reduction by 2025 as stipulated in the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) Phase II: 2021 – 2025.
