Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 15 September 2022 – The second day of the ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF) 2022 was held on 15 September 2022. The discussions revolved around the theme of “Energy Transition in Practice.”
The conference started with the Joint Opening Ceremony of the 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meetings (AMEM), AEBF 2022 and 2nd ASEAN International Conference on Energy and Environment (AICEE).
“Within the ASEAN framework, as the Chair in 2022, Cambodia will continue to contribute to the development of new initiatives and promote greater participation in all energy transition activities and projects in the region in the most effective way possible”, stated H.E. Samdech Techno HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia in his address.
Energy leaders from various entities convened to deliver presentations and speak in five different panels. Several topics were covered in the panels, including financing and regulations for renewables projects, variable renewable energy (vRE) deployment, grid resilience and energy efficiency programmes.
This year’s AEBF explored the potentials of renewable energy along with its challenges. The forum has played an important role in accelerating energy transition by providing a platform where key decision makers get to discuss strategic cooperation, energy targets and ways forward. After the end of the conference, a virtual Awarding Ceremony was held to announce the awardees of the ASEAN Energy Awards 2022. The Awards aim to promote a greater private sector participation in energy development in the ASEAN region.
