Information

Women make up only 8% of the workforce in ASEAN’s energy sector, highlighting a significant gender gap in a field crucial to the region’s sustainable growth. This underrepresentation limits decision-making, innovation, and progress in the energy transition.

To bridge this gap, the ASEAN Centre for Energy, with support from the World Bank, is organising the ASEAN Energy Gender Forum to strengthen ASEAN’s commitment to gender equity in the energy sector and ensure the next phase of ASEAN’s regional energy blueprint, the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030, sets the foundation for an inclusive energy transition. The forum will convene policymakers, industry leaders, international and regional organisations, academia and research institutions, and civil society and gender advocates to facilitate discussions on shaping gender-inclusive energy policies and implementation in ASEAN.
