The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) participated in the 58th ASEAN Day celebration on 8 August 2025 by hosting an interactive booth alongside embassies, ASEAN bodies, and affiliated centres. Held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia, the event embraced the theme “Towards an Inclusive and Sustainable ASEAN Future,” reflecting the region’s shared commitment to progress, resilience, and collective ambition.
The celebration marked ASEAN’s 58th anniversary, bringing together leaders, innovators, and stakeholders from across the region not only to honor its legacy but also to spark bold collaborations for the future. With a spirit of shared purpose, the gathering reinforced ASEAN’s role as a driving force for sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth in Southeast Asia and beyond.

In this year’s exhibition, ACE’s booth showcased informative materials on the Centre’s accomplishments, publications, and key programmes. This included the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) initiative, upcoming new ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030, and the 25th ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF-25) that will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Visitors experienced hands-on learning through ACE’s interactive chaining words game and testing their knowledge with lively quiz card challenges.

In the afternoon, ACE had the honor of welcoming H.E. Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, accompanied by H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN. ACE presented its initiatives and programmes to them, and both expressed optimism and enthusiasm for the centre’s continued success. The visit also featured the presentation of the ASEAN Energy Outlook 8 (AEO8), ACE’s flagship publication and the region’s most authoritative reference for energy trends, projections, and policy insights. This visit was not only a celebration of ASEAN unity but also an opportunity to introduce the renewed spirit of energy cooperation and the forthcoming APAEC 2026-2030 framework among ASEAN Member States (AMS).

ACE’s booth attracted a diverse range of visitors, including government officials, industry leaders, and other stakeholders, providing a valuable opportunity to share our programmes on energy transition and sustainability. Through this engagement, ACE reinforced its role as a key regional player advocating for sustainable development and enhanced collaboration across AMS.
