The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) attends the 12th ERIA Editors’ Roundtable held on 7 November 2023, represented by Rinda Rufaidah, Communications Specialist at ACE. Organised by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) in partnership with The Jakarta Post, the full-day roundtable took place at ERIA Office in Jakarta, Indonesia, and brought together key stakeholders from government bodies, private sector, and media in the region.
The event commenced with Opening Remarks by Tetsuya Watanabe, President of ERIA, and M Taufiqurrahman, Chief Editor of The Jakarta Post. Followed by the Keynote Speech delivered by H.E. Amb. Kiya Masahiko, Ambassador of the Mission of Japan to ASEAN.
A significant part of the event was session two, titled “Powering the Future: Navigating ASEAN’s Energy Transition,” with a specific focus on appropriate technologies. During this panel discussion, panellists and participants explored the transition toward a sustainable energy landscape in the ASEAN region. They emphasised the importance of renewable energy sources and their role in facilitating this transition, including the significance of emerging technologies like electric vehicles (EVs) and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) in reshaping the energy landscape in ASEAN.
The event’s agenda featured informative panel sessions, including sessions on Transforming ASEAN through Digital Innovation, ASEAN-Japan Cooperation under Indo-Pacific Frameworks, and ASEAN as a Pillar of Peace: Fostering Stability in the Indo-Pacific as well as discussion on Media’s Roles and Perceptions of Indo-Pacific Strategies. These sessions provided a platform for informative dialogue and strategic insights, fostering a deeper understanding of the region’s dynamics and relations between ASEAN-Japan.
