Discussing the Acceleration of Clean Power at London Climate Action Week
London Climate Action Week #LCAW2020 takes place from 1-3 July 2020. The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), represented by Beni Suryadi, Manager of Power, Fossil Fuels, Alternative Energy and Storage who are also the project manager of the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) was invited to join at one of its events.
Phase 2- In-house Sharing Session 1 COVID-19 Pandemic and Climate Crisis
The Covid-19 outbreak does not make climate change issues out of sight to ACCEPT.
Last week on Friday, ACCEPT initiated Phase 2- In-House Sharing Session 1 and discussed five different topics under a common theme regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and climate crisis via online webinar. These topics ranging from the COVID-19 survey to the link between COVID-19 pandemic and climate crisis was delivered by five speakers from ACE. Overall participants who attended were nearly 30 people.
ACCEPT Input and Intervention at Review of ADB Energy Policy
On 19 June 2020, during the Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) 2020, the ADB organized a Consultation Roundtable to Review the ADB’s Energy Policy. Its main objective was to bring together energy sector experts and officials in the energy sector in developed and developing member countries (DMCs), international organizations, and ADB sector experts to review the ADB’s current energy policies.

The Fifth In-house Sharing Session – International Agreements on Climate Change
In the midst of Covid-19 outbreak, ACCEPT has completed its In-house Sharing Phase 1 with the final session: International Agreements on Climate Change. The lecture was delivered by Dr Chan Hoyyen via online webinar. There were nearly 20 participants who connected remotely.
Special ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) Drafting Committee (ADC) Online Meeting
Covid-19 pandemic has caused many ASEAN official meetings being postponed or conducted as virtual meeting. Likewise, the Special ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) Drafting Committee (ADC) Meeting was held on 14 May 2020 through virtual meeting. This was the first official meeting on the development of the APAEC 2016-2025 Phase II: 2021-2025 that was held virtually through video conference. However, this does not hinder the AMS’ interest in attending this meeting virtually, discussing the key regional blueprint document that is expected to be launched at the 38th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) this November 2020 in Vietnam.
Discoursing the Impact of COVID-19 in ASEAN Electricity Sector
As COVID-19 already spread all around the world, global economic activities have been slowed down. Various people’s mobility restrictions were causing declining energy consumption in many sectors; electricity is one of them. On 5 May 2020, research analyst of ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT), Mr Muhammad Rizki Kresnawan, has been invited to deliver a guest talk in the webinar session held by Universitas Teknologi Sumbawa (UTS). Apart from Mr Rizki, the webinar also invited the Manager of local State-owned Energy (SOE) utilities called PLN of Sumbawa, Mr Irwanto Wahyu Kusumo.
