The Thai Smile Bus Co will decommission the last of its fleet of natural gas vehicle (NGV) buses this month, and use only electric buses to serve Bangkok commuters as the firm moves toward its net zero goal, its CEO said on Tuesday.

On November 30th, 2023, the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) Phase II launched the second episode of ARNECC Paper Talks 2.0 – Net Zero Series, exploring the role of electric vehicles (EV) in achieving the Net Zero Target. Dr. Ibham Veza from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS presented the publication titled “Electric Vehicle (EV) and Driving towards Sustainability: Comparison between EV, HEV, PHEV, and ICE Vehicles to Achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2050 from EV” with Ms. Mardika Firlina from ASEAN Centre for Energy took the role as the moderator.
ACCEPT II Contributes to Panel Discussions on the Implementation of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism
ACCEPT II had the opportunity to be invited as a panelist in discussions on the new EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The event held in Singapore was hosted by the EU delegation in Singapore and the EU-ASEAN Business Council. This panel discussion aims to clarify CBAM’s objectives and attempts to gives full transparency on its implementation.
A Workshop on National Net Zero Modelling for Lao PDR Supported by ACCEPT II has been Conducted in Vientiane
The workshop was jointly organised by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) of Lao PDR and ACCEPT II. The event held in 30-31 October 2023 at Lao Plaza Hotel, Vientiane, Lao PDR has been attended by 30 people from the government of Lao PDR.
The workshop has also provided a capacity building on country energy modelling delivered by Taylor Binnington from the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI). SEI has introduced Low Emission Analysis Platform (LEAP) particularly on the net-zero technology approach for Lao PDR.
