Bangchak touts EV ecosystem

Mostly state-owned energy firm Bangchak Corporation is stepping up efforts to diversify into the electric vehicle market by developing an EV ecosystem for several thousand motorcycle taxis. Bangchak launched the Winnonie project to pilot a plan to build battery service facilities, with help from a new mobile app.

Thailand offers 45.7-million-USD loan for Myanmar’s electricity development

Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Government has approved a concessional loan worth 1.45 billion baht (45.7 million USD) to help Myanmar improve its electricity system. Rachada Dhnadirek, Thailand’s deputy government spokeswoman, said on July 14 that the loan is part of the country’s initiative to strengthen ties with neighbouring countries.

Euro 5 upgrade delayed at 6 refineries

The enforcement of Euro 5 emissions standards will be postponed from 2024 after lockdown measures halted upgrade plans at six refineries, says the Energy Business Department. The upgrade requires technical help from overseas experts who are unable to visit Thailand because of travel restrictions imposed during the pandemic, said department chief Nanthika Thangsupanich.

IEAT to seek more waste-to-energy help

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) will ask energy officials to increase support of waste-to-energy schemes to better dispose of increasing amounts of industrial waste caused by state promotion of domestic investment.
