Thailand launches electric motorcycle taxi pilot project

BANGKOK, May 7 (Xinhua): The Thai government and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) jointly launched a pilot project for electric motorcycle taxis in Thailand. Some 50 electric motorcycles donated by Chinese company TAILG will be used as green motorcycle taxis in a collaborative research project and as demonstration cases.

Deco backs promotion of BEVs

Deco Green Energy Co, a Thai electric motorcycle manufacturer and distributor, signed an agreement yesterday with the Excise Department to promote battery electric vehicles (BEVs) under the government’s subsidy and tax incentive measures. Deco produces both vehicles and components, including electric motorcycles, electric bicycles, spare parts and lithium batteries.

Thai, Malaysian firms pull out of Myanmar gasfield project

BANGKOK—Thailand’s oil and gas conglomerate PTTEP and Malaysia’s Petronas announced Friday they would withdraw from the Yetagun gas project in coup-hit Myanmar. There has been an exodus of global energy companies from Myanmar including Chevron and TotalEnergies following last year’s military takeover and subsequent allegations of human rights abuses.

JERA, EGCO PLAN LNG VALUE-CHAIN IN THAILAND

Japan’s Jera has concluded a memorandum of understanding with Thai utility Electricity Generating Public Co. (Egco) to develop LNG value-chain in the southeast Asian country, the company said on April 26. They will also look to establish a supply chain for hydrogen and ammonia.
