Sabah approves 723MW in energy projects

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Energy Council (MTS) has approved 723MW of energy projects to meet the state’s medium-term electricity needs, including 360MW from gas-fired plants in Kimanis and Tawau, and 363MW from hydro and wind sources.

Malaysia boosts coal power output, imports to meet rising demand

SINGAPORE/KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Reuters) – Malaysia is boosting coal-fired power output and importing the fuel at record levels, a Reuters analysis of data showed, taking advantage of low prices even as it pledges to increase use of gas-fuelled electricity generation in the longer term.

Local player joining Malaysia’s third FLNG project

The deal envisages SMJ Energy’s acquisition of a 25% interest in PFLNG 3, the company developing the ZLNG project, also known as PFLNG 3. This is a nearshore FLNG project under development, which will be located in the Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP), Sabah.
