IFC financing two wind power projects in Vietnam

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is funding the development and construction of two wind power projects in central Vietnam as the country transitions to cleaner low-carbon power generation to help meet the growing demand for electricity.

Siemens Gamesa picks up 160MW Philippines deal

Siemens Gamesa has secured an order to supply, install and commission 32 turbines for the 160MW Balaoi & Caunayan wind farm in the Philippines. The project, which is the largest in the country when built, is being developed by  Asian renewable energy companies UPC Renewables and AC Energy.

Is geothermal valued fairly in power tariffs in Indonesia?

A recent article by CNBC in Indonesia implies that geothermal energy might be loosing competitiveness as “geothermal rates are more expensive than those of hydropower (PLTA) plants.” Despite the great geothermal potential, the utilization of geothermal is lagging behind in development due to it being more expensive than other forms of renewables.
