Chinese group to invest $1bn in Cambodian pumped storage

A Chinese industrial conglomerate is to invest $1bn in a pumped-storage system in southwest Cambodia. According to news site Yicai, the Upper Tatai Pumped Storage Power will be added to the 150MW Tatai hydropower scheme, which China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) hopes to complete next year.

Marubeni in ‘first of a kind’ Vietnam battery storage project with VinGroup

A green energy subsidiary of Japanese conglomerate Marubeni has brought online a megawatt-scale battery storage demonstration project in Vietnam. Marubeni Green Power Vietnam, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni—one of Japan’s largest general trading ‘sōgō shōsha’ companies—partnered with Vietnamese counterpart VinGroup for the 1.8MW/3.7MWh lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery energy storage system (BESS) project.
