PLN supplies 8,978 MWh of green electricity to Uniqlo Indonesia

State electricity company PT PLN will provide green electricity to fashion company PT Fast Retailing Indonesia (UNIQLO) of 8,978 megawatt hours (MWh) through the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) service as part of the commitment to support decarbonisation of the industrial sector in the country.

Electricity rates likely up this month

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are reportedly experiencing adverse effects due to frequent electricity blackouts, leading to some businesses having to halt their operations. The state-owned Yangon Electrical Supply Corporation (YESC) reported in April that the production capacity of large hydropower plants in the national power system has decreased due to dry conditions.

Meralco hikes power rate in May

The tight power supply in the Luzon grid during the yellow and red alerts in April has pushed electricity rates up in franchise areas of Manila Electric Company (Meralco). Meralco announced Tuesday that power rates in May increased by PHP0.4621 per kilowatt hour to PHP11.4139 per kWh from PHP10.9518 per kWh in the previous month.

Sarawak-Singapore electricity project to be operational by 2031

The electricity supply interconnection project linking Sarawak to Singapore is expected to be commercially operational by 2031, says state utilities and telecommunications minister Julaihi Narawi. He said the project is currently undergoing technical research, which involves survey work for the undersea cable route.
