Indonesia still considering coal HBA formula changes

Indonesia’s energy ministry (ESDM) is continuing to study the possibility of revising the formula currently used to calculate the country’s coal HBA reference price, with it aiming to have a new method in place before the end of this year.

PLN, ADB to Plan Early Retirement for Independent Coal Power Plants

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – PT PLN (Persero) with Asian Development Bank (ADB) plans early retirement of coal power plants through the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) scheme. The scheme is adopted to accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia to achieve the net zero emissions (NZE) goal by 2060.

G7+ Raises US$20bn to Help Indonesia’s Coal Plants Retirement Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A coalition of G7+ members has agreed to help Indonesia fast-track its energy transition program by raising US$20 billion (around Rp311 trillion) over the next three to five years, through Indonesia Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). The partnership included efforts to shut down coal-fired power plants early and increase the use of renewable energy sources.
