Ahmad Zulhilmi, Assistant Director, Energy Commission, Malaysia, as the BOJ chair, led the meeting to select the winners and runners-up from each category. These selections were subsequently endorsed by the 29th ASEAN EE&C-SSN Meeting on 22 May 2025. Additionally, he also led the BOJ in discussing various feedback and improvements to the award mechanism, including submission guidelines, the quality of submissions, and the scoring system for next year’s awards.
The most significant improvement was the agreement by BOJ members to elevate Zero Energy Buildings as a new subcategory under Energy Efficient Building, distinct from special submissions, with the goal of its inclusion in AEA 2026. This advancement will be implemented with a clear review framework that includes comprehensive guidelines and a structured scoring matrix to ensure consistent evaluation standards
