The 24th ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF-24) hosted an Awarding Night to announce the winners of the ASEAN Energy Awards of 2024 on Friday, 27 September 2024, in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The event is organised by the ASEAN Centre for Energy and hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) of Lao PDR.

The ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA) stands as an esteemed honour, highlighting and celebrating excellent contributions to the energy sector across the ASEAN region. The award serves as Southeast Asia’s reputable recognition to encourage greater private sector participation and interest in ASEAN energy development. Celebrated and held in conjunction with AEBF-24, AEA 2024 showcases two diverse awards that underlines the commitment of organisations in implementing sustainable energy practices and innovation, which are Energy Efficiency & Conservation, and Renewable Energy.

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Awards consist of three awards which highlight advancements of energy efficiency measures in Green Building Award, Energy Efficient Building Award, and Energy Management in Buildings and Industries Award.

On the other side, the Renewable Energy Award is dedicated to recognizing innovation in sustainable energy sources. This award is divided into several categories. The Off Grid category highlights achievements in establishing and operating off-grid renewable energy systems. The On Grid category celebrates successful efforts to integrate renewable energy sources into existing grid systems. The Combined Heat and Power Generation category acknowledges organisations that implement cogeneration systems, maximising energy use by producing both electricity and heat from a single source. In the Biofuel category, advancements in the use of bioenergy and biofuels are commended. Lastly, the Special Submission category allows for recognition of innovative RE projects.

This year, a total of 52 participants were selected as winners. These winners were awarded with trophies, plaques, and high-profile recognition in an award presentation ceremony that was held in conjunction with the ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM).

In addition to the above esteemed winners from the aforementioned categories, the AEA also honours individuals who have shown remarkable dedication to regional energy collaboration through The Excellence Individuals Award. The Excellence Individuals Awards recognises those who have contributed to promoting sustainable energy solutions, driving innovation, and cultivating an eco-friendlier energy future. The Excellence Individuals Awards were given to 18 winners.
