Dr Nuki Agya Utama, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), emphasised the pressing need for ASEAN to prioritise cleaner energy sources during a panel discussion at the prestigious “Unlocking Capital for Sustainability 2024” event. This annual flagship event, convened by Eco-Business in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), brings together key decision-makers from the worlds of finance, industry, government, and civil society across the Asia Pacific region to drive sustainable finance initiatives. For this year’s Indonesia summit, the event is a part of the Jakarta Investment Festival 2024.
The esteemed panel, featuring representatives from Gurīn Energy, Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, PT PLN, and Asia Pacific Siemens Energy, underscored the critical need to unlock capital to finance the energy transition. Dr Nuki emphasised the importance of forging public-private partnerships, establishing innovative financing mechanisms, and creating an attractive investment environment for green energy projects across the region.
