ASEAN Decarbonisation Pathway: A Policy Review on Variable Renewable Energy, Electric Vehicle, and Smart Microgrid

• AMS have concrete policies and targets for variable renewable energy as part of their existing renewables implementation frameworks; solar power is expected to be a significant contributor to the total renewables generation
• The year 2030 is a crucial time mark for most member states to achieve their targets set for electric vehicles on the road and the availability of charging stations
• Enabling an investment-friendly environment through clear policy direction and supporting mechanisms is the top priority for decarbonisation
• Ensuring cost-effective energy supply through smart microgrid with digitalisation and battery energy storage system can be imperative components
