Dr Nuki Agya Utama, Executive Director of ACE, met with Mr Shinya Kawamura, General Manager of Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) Jakarta Office, to discuss the energy transition initiatives and potential cooperation between ACE and JOGMEC.
Under the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation 2016-2025 Phase II: 2021-2025, ASEAN is aiming to accelerate the energy transition and strengthen energy resilience through its seven (7) programme areas, namely ASEAN Power Grid, Trans ASEAN Gas Pipeline, Coal and Clean Coal Technology, Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Renewable Energy, Regional Energy Policy and Planning, and the Civilian Nuclear Energy.
In April 2021, JOGMEC has recently launched their JOGMEC Carbon Neutral Initiative, which highlighted their basic directions and policies in contributing to carbon neutrality, including strengthening efforts for clean resources and energy, decarbonisation fuel, technology, and systems, including the development of CCS and geothermal.
ACE and JOGMEC is currently the Oil Stockpiling Roadmap Initiative co-implementer under the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Energy Plus Three (SOME+3) Energy Policy Governing Group.
