Awarding Ceremony of ASEAN Energy Awards 2022

15 Sep 2022Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 15 September 2022 — The Awarding Ceremony of the ASEAN Energy Awards 2022 was held virtually and broadcasted live from Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 15 September 2022. The Ceremony was held in conjunction with the 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF) 2022.

ASEAN Energy Awards is the Southeast Asia’s highest reward to recognise a greater private sector participation and interest in energy development of the ASEAN region in partnership with the public sector.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy of Cambodia, highlighted the importance of this Award in promoting awareness on best practices in energy sector and encourage private sector participation to promote clean energy transition, resilience, and sustainability technology. “It is essential that we promote the participation from the private sector, educational institutions and the youth generation to help addressing and overcoming all challenges present in the energy sector, including working towards accelerating ASEAN’s energy transition,” said H.E. Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy, Cambodia.

Organised annually by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), the 2022 awards consist of ASEAN Energy Efficient Building Awards, ASEAN Green Building Awards, ASEAN Best Practices for Energy Management in Building and Industry Awards, ASEAN Renewable Energy Project Awards, ASEAN Excellence in Energy Management by Individual, and the 3rdASEAN Energy Youth Awards. Additionally, the ceremony provided special recognition for the certified trainers of ASEAN Japan Energy Efficiency Partnership (AJEEP) programme.

“I am confident that today’s Award winners will soon inspire the other ASEAN entities and industry players to follow suit,” said H.E. Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy, Cambodia.

The Awards presenters were the distinguished energy ministers and senior officials of the ASEAN Member States, Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) of Japan, Korea Energy Agency (KEA), Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), and ASEAN Secretariat.
