The Energy Market Authority of Singapore (EMA) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) conducted a training programme on Efficient Grid-Interactive Buildings that took place virtually from 5 to 7 July 2022. The 3-day event was part of the activities under the Singapore-IEA Regional Training Hub, which are developed in support of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) Phase II 2021-2025 Programme Area No. 4: Energy Efficiency and Conservation.
Representatives of 9 out of 10 ASEAN Member States were in attendance, along with participants from 33 countries. The training’s aim was to build capacity and strengthen the network among policymakers, academics and professionals working in the building sector in Southeast Asia.
The Executive Director of ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), Dr. Nuki Agya Utama, gave opening remarks on the first day of the event. He talked about energy efficiency milestones in the ASEAN region, recalling the 38th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM), where ASEAN Energy Ministers endorsed the APAEC Phase II: 2021-2025 and the 6th ASEAN Energy Outlook (AEO6).
“We look forward to collaborating with you all in the future to achieve our regional goals towards net zero building in ASEAN region,” said Dr. Nuki. He also expressed his gratitude towards EMA and IEA for organising the training programme.
