AGEP Programme Report 2021

Summary

ASEAN SPARKS (Shaping Pioneers to Accelerate the Rise of Climate Tech Solutions) is a regional innovation and capacity-building programme designed to strengthen clean energy and climate technology entrepreneurship across ASEAN. Jointly implemented by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with funding support from the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF), the programme targets early-stage startups, particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen market alignment, technology validation, business model development, mentorship engagement, and investment readiness.

This knowledge report documents and synthesises the structured learning content delivered under ASEAN SPARKS, with a specific focus on (i) the Ignite pre-accelerator phase and (ii) the expert training modules that equip mentors, judges, and evaluators with standardised guidance and evaluation frameworks across programme stages. The report is intended as a practical reference for programme stakeholders such as future facilitators, mentors, judges, trainers, and partner institutions, supporting knowledge transfer, consistency, and scalability, while reinforcing alignment with ASEAN energy transition priorities and gender inclusion objectives.
