Background

Continuing the previous efforts, ACE launched the 7th edition of the ASEAN Energy Outlook (AEO7)1 at the 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM)2. AEO7 marks the first ASEAN energy outlook, where ASEAN takes full leadership in data gathering, modelling, writing, and dissemination. It was developed by ACE in collaboration with national experts from ASEAN Member States (AMS) and guided by the ASEAN Regional Energy Policy and Planning Sub-sector Network (REPP-SSN). Support was provided by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through the ASEAN-German Energy Programme (AGEP), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, and ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT). ACE launches two timely reports which summarize the key insights from the 2022 ASEAN energy sector (2022 ASEAN Energy Insights and the required policies and actions for the outlooking of ASEAN energy sector in 2023 (Outlooking ASEAN Energy 2023).  

Objectives

  • To widen public knowledge on the 7th ASEAN Energy Outlook findings, following up the presentation launching at ASEAN Energy Business Forum 2022 in Cambodia. 
  • To present the lessons learned from ASEAN energy sector in 2022.  
  • To discuss the key insights from the experts on policy recommendations on the required policies and actions for redesigning ASEAN energy security in 2023.  

Target Participant

This public webinar is expected to be attended by SEBs/SSNs focal points, including but not limited to related ministries, institutions, and academes, private stakeholders, financial institutions, and general public.
