Description

The webinar aims to enhance knowledge and increase public awareness and acceptance of nuclear power plants. The increase of public knowledge and acceptance will be beneficial for ASEAN in diversifying its energy mix by including nuclear energy as a part of it. Nuclear energy is expected to have an important role in fighting climate change due to its low carbon and baseload characteristic, while also able to meet the increase of energy demand without hurting economic growth.

The speakers for the discussion are:

• Michael Sinocruz, Chief, Planning Division, Energy Policy and Planning Bureau, Department of Energy (DoE) The Philippines, The Philippines Nuclear Energy Practices, Policy, and Plans.
• Prof. Djarot Wisnubroto, BadanTenaga Nuklir Nasional (BATAN), Indonesia Nuclear Energy Practices, Policy, and Plans.
• Saied Dardour, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), New Nuclear Power Programmes and Financing of New Nuclear Power Plants.

The discussion will be led by Dr Nuki Agya Utama, the Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) as the moderator and followed by a Q&A session, which may address the future on the development of Civilian Nuclear Energy in ASEAN.
